Biography

Thomas Le (B.A., College of William & Mary; predoctoral internship/residency, Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School; Ph.D., University of Maryland) is a counseling psychologist who integrates cultural and clinical psychology perspectives into his work. Within a liberation psychology and intersectional framework, the goal of their research is to understand both the individual and structural factors that promote mental wellbeing among marginalized communities, with an emphasis on Asian Americans and LGBTQ+ people of color. Using survey, qualitative, and experimental methods, his research examines 1) mechanisms that affect or underlie the association between discrimination and health outcomes (e.g., disordered eating, substance use), 2) strengths-based approaches to bolstering marginalized individuals’ mental wellbeing, and 3) how sociocultural factors related to race and gender affect close and/or intimate relationships.
