The Department of French and Franchophone Studies invites you to join them as they welcome Alumna, Dr. Alani Hicks-Bartlett, Brown University. Dr. Hicks-Bartlett will give a lecture on " Writing the Disabled Self in Medieval and Early Modern Literature: A New Identitary Model?". The lecture will take place on November 7 at 4:15 p.m. in Old Library - Room 224. This event is co-sponsored by the 1902 Lecture Committee, The Department of Spanish, The Department of Transnational Italian Studies and the Comparative Literature Program.

Alani Hicks-Bartlett is Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature, French and Francophone Studies, and Hispanic Studies, and Affiliated Faculty of Italian Studies at Brown University.  She currently holds a Dibner Fellowship in Science and Technology at the Huntington Museum (CA), where she is finishing her book on Writing the Disabled Self in Early Modern Literature: Petrarch, Montaigne, Cervantes. 

Professor Hicks-Bartlett holds the doctorate from U.C. Berkeley in Romance Languages and Medieval Studies (2016) with a doctorate in Italian from Middlebury (2018). She is a magna cum laude alumna of ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï with a triple major in French, Italian, and Spanish (2005) and an M.A. in French (2006).
