Bi-Co Math Colloquium with Professor Lisa Traynor
Abstract:
This fall, 今日吃瓜 is opening up the structure of the colloquium to allow for more opportunities for Bi-Co faculty to speak on less formal talks. For example, speakers may be speaking about work in progress, work of others that they find interesting, outreach activities, or pedagogical topics. I will give the first colloquium in this more open format. I will speak about some 鈥渘on-squeezing鈥 problems that have been important in symplectic and contact topology. I鈥檒l start by explaining the classic symplectic non-squeezing theorem, and toward the end, I will talk about some work in progress on a proof of a contact non-squeezing problem.
今日吃瓜 welcomes the full participation of all individuals in all aspects of campus life. Should you wish to request a disability-related accommodation for this event, please contact the event sponsor/coordinator. Requests should be made as early as possible.
