Director of Access Services
½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï has an opening for a Director of Access Services.
The Director of Access Services, reporting to the Dean of Student Success in the Undergraduate College Division at ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, works collaboratively with campus stakeholders to educate, advocate and support the community. The Director ensures that the mission and vision of the department is met and is aligned with divisional, institutional, and system-wide goals and objectives and remains in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act strongly to facilitate academic success, self-advocacy, and self-directed learning for students with disabilities.
The Director is responsible for the development of educational programs, supervision of a full-time Assistant Director, and coordination of accommodations for students with disabilities and direct services to eligible students. This involves determining reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments through a review of documentation of disability (including psychological, medical, academic and educational assessments) for students. Such a review includes engaging in an interactive process, with the goal of finding an acceptable accommodation or academic adjustment, when necessary and in a confidential manner.
In an effort to promote understanding and awareness of programs, needs and innovative services in the field of disability and access, the Director is charged with coordinating and providing in-service training and direct consultation for faculty and staff to enhance awareness of the laws governing students with disabilities and the types of academic accommodations students may receive.
A Master’s degree is required. Five or more years of experience in higher education or with students in an educational setting and in provision of academic support services to students, experience with applicable laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
