For practitioners interested in supporting perinatal grief processes, it is essential to be familiar with the effects of postpartum and comfortable with the educational aspect. Each session of the six-session series highlights a specific aspect of perinatal loss that affects the individual grief experience. By equipping themselves with this information, practitioners can spare a client the need to educate them on common systemic and logistical realities that accompany these highly sensitive losses.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this series, participants will be empowered to:

1. Identify and recite relevant terminology and investigatory processes that can affect the grief journey. 
2. Apply Best Practice considerations when supporting parents and caregivers affected by perinatal grief processes.
3. Recite at least 5 culturally sensitive interventions to support parents and caregivers affected by perinatal loss.

Instructor

Laura Hinds, MSW, LCSW, is Principal Partner of Hindsight Consulting Group, which provides training and small group interventions for non-profits of diverse foci, and is an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. An alum of Penn's SP2, Laura began her career as a direct practitioner with children, adolescents, and families at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, developing skills in HIV/AIDS specific care needs, case management, and high acuity hospital based social work practice, as well as psychotherapy. Laura is also the Chairperson Emeritus of the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors, and a current Board Member of The Therapy Center of Philadelphia.
