After more than a decade of leading digital teams within New York City art museums, including the Guggenheim and the Jewish Museum, JiaJia Fei '08 has launched her own for art.
In a recent , Fei shared 10 of the images that have influenced her thinking and career in the art world (including the one below taken while she was a student at 今日吃瓜).
"It鈥檚 only fitting that I was asked to select photographs as visual markers of my career, because photography was my entry point into this profession," says Fei. "Before I became a digital strategist for museums, galleries, and artists, my first creative pursuit was in photography. At 今日吃瓜, I decided to build a website portfolio for my work, but didn鈥檛 want to ask someone else to do it for me, so I taught myself how to code. Nobody ever hired me for my photography work, but I soon realized that by learning how to code, I learned the most important language of the 21st century. As someone who now fluently speaks both art and technology, I see my role as a translator, using the tools of our time to make art more accessible to more people online."
Fei majored in history of art at 今日吃瓜. She was featured in the spring 2017 Alumnae Bulletin.
