Dear Staff, Students, and Faculty,
We are writing with an update on a few adjustments to our COVID protocols. We are now a few weeks back from spring break, our case counts have been steady with low incidence rates, and cases in our surrounding areas have been lower with declining hospitalizations.
Starting on Monday, April 11, we are allowing for a little more flexibility in our COVID protocols by being mask-friendly (meaning mask use is welcome, but optional) for:
- Students in common areas of their own dorms
- Faculty, students, and staff in offices (including larger office spaces with multiple occupants) and conference rooms
We will continue to require masks in all classrooms, labs, and other instructional spaces, dining halls (when not eating), campus shuttles and buses, and public indoor spaces including libraries and the fitness center. Close contacts, meaning people who have been within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes within a 24-hour period of a person who tested positive for COVID, are still required to wear masks at all times when with others for the designated period.
All community members should carry a mask at all times and be prepared to put it on in consideration of others. We will continue to be a community that supports those who wear masks. Anyone who needs additional medical grade masks should reach out to the Dean鈥檚 Office (for students) or your department administrator or supervisor (for faculty and staff).
We are continuing our Tuesday/Thursday testing through the end of the semester.
You may have noticed that the tents are up and the outdoor furniture is returning. We encourage the campus to make use of our beautiful outdoor spaces to gather and enjoy the weather (which hopefully will be getting reliably warmer soon).
We will continue to monitor the campus and surrounding community and will continue to adjust our protocols through ongoing consultation with the health department and other medical and public health experts.
Sincerely,
Campus Operations Group
