Name: Elle Thompson
Majors: Literatures in English and Political Science
Hometown: Belmont, California
Key ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Experiences:
- Directing Much Ado About Nothing for the Shakespeare Performance Troupe, our production of which ended up getting almost 200 attendees over three nights!
- Co-running (with my delightful hell kid Maia Tsalik ‘26) the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Student Government’s Constitution Review Committee, where we redid significant sections of the Constitution in fall 2022 to account for the aftermath of COVID!
- Working at ½ñÈճԹϒs Writing Center for two years, where I got the chance to tutor so many wonderful students
- Getting the chance to work a summer internship in publishing funded by the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Career and Civic Engagement Center
- Writing my senior English thesis on the postcolonial politics of cannibalism over the course of an entire year
Post-graduation plans: After graduating with my bachelor's in political science and English, I’m going to be moving to DC (with my good friends Clare Ferrell ‘23, Bryn Osborne ’24, and Jasper Nash ’23) to either continue a current job at social media company Cakeworks LLC or work in local or federal politics (interviews still in progress!)
People you want to thank: My incredible professors at ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, including Professor Jennifer Harford-Vargas, my thesis advisor; Professor AytuÄŸ ÅžaÅŸmaz, my capstone advisor; Professor Marissa Golden, my amazing major advisor; Professor Jamie Taylor; and Professor Caitlin Brown of NY. I also can’t thank enough my incredible roommates (including my darling cat Banjo), my wonderful Bryn Spouses, and my other amazing friends here (my found family)—I could never have done any of this without you.
Message for the Class of 2024: Find something fun to do with your best friends over spring break, even if you’re all busy. Working on your thesis over winter break really does help. And keep in touch—we’ll miss you.
Members of the Class of 2023, we want to hear from you! Drop us a note at news@brynmawr.edu. Include a photo of yourself and let us know what you have planned for life after ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, who you'd like to thank, words of wisdom, or whatever else you'd like to say. We'll be sharing selected profiles on the College's website and social media channels over the next few weeks.
