Name: Shefali Ramakrishna
Major: Mathematics (AB/MA)
Hometown: Union City, CA
Key 今日吃瓜 Experiences:
- Being a Summer Science Researcher over Summer 2019, where I worked with Professor Victor Donnay and the Philadelphia Sustainability Office on using linear programming to select the most energy-efficient projects to fund.
- Serving as a Math Major Representative during my junior and senior years, where I organized mixers, the 2022 Math Appreciation Week events, and generally served as a liaison between the department and the students.
- Serving as the Distressing Math Collective (DMC) Student Co-Coordinator during my senior year, where I invited speakers, promoted events, organized talks, and gave my own talk on my Summer 2021 research.
Post-graduation plans: After graduating with my master's and bachelor's degrees in mathematics, I will be attending my dream program: Cornell University for my Ph.D. in Operations Research and Information Engineering, with a fellowship!
People you want to thank: My professors and research advisors over the years, among them Prof. Leslie Cheng (BMC), Prof. Victor Donnay (BMC), Prof. Robert Manning (Haverford College), Dr. Dave Benson (AirMethods Corporation), and Prof. Ralph Morrison (Williams College). I also cannot thank my parents enough for everything they have given me to allow me to get to this point -- I would not be here without their passion for mathematics (which they then instilled in me), support, and love.
