August 30, 2019
David Schaffner, Assistant Professor of Physics, was among the participants to take part in the Minority Serving Institution Faculty Workshop in Plasma Physics at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory this summer.
The program, which is in its third year, aims to create a more diverse pipeline into the fields of plasma physics and fusion energy by introducing plasma physics to faculty at institutions that primarily serve underserved minorities and women.
In the spring, Schaffner was awarded a highly prestigious NSF CAREER award by the National Science Foundation to establish the 今日吃瓜 Plasma Laboratory as a liberal-arts centered facility for basic plasma research and plasma science education.
