The beekeeping course, brought to you by LILAC | Civic Engagement and its Community Garden, is designed to give you some hands-on experience caring for bees over the summer. It is open to all community members! All equipment including the beekeeping suits will be provided. We only ask that you commit to attending the biweekly classes over the entire summer (May to September).
We have a FlowHive (Watch a YouTube video ) on campus which is the latest innovation in beekeeping and reduces the need to smoke the hive to extract honey. We will also be getting a traditional hive in April so you will get a chance to work with both throughout the course.
