Till Arts Project is a grassroots organization committed to providing a safe space and resources for LGBTQ+ artists and creators to make and exhibit their work, and to network and collaborate with each other. With low-cost classes, shared workspace, free exhibition opportunities, and other initiatives, they help LGBTQ+ artists to have access to expressing and expanding themselves through the arts. They are also committed to improving inclusion and equity in the future of the arts and culture sector, by giving LGBTQ+ youth the tools and hands-on training they need to be organizers and leaders in the fields of arts advocacy and arts management.
Till Arts is in need of two interns for the summer. The job descriptions are listed below.
Administrative and Gallery Assistant
- Position reports to co-directors. Intern will assist with day-to-day operations in the gallery and art studio spaces. Ideal candidate has an interest in the arts, social justice organizing, and customer service. This is an opportunity for hands-on experience in arts administration, arts advocacy, and LGBTQ+ activism.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with coordination of programming
- Provide space management support
- Act as a greeter for folks visiting the space
- Research, online and at the public library
- Data entry as needed
- Help to paint gallery between exhibitions
- Install and de-install artwork as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Useful skills (willing to teach/coach you if you don't possess these skills):
- Time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
- Experience with power tools
- Knowledge of current issues in the LGBTQ+ community
Development Assistant
- Position reports to co-directors. Intern will assist with development and fundraising for the Till Arts Project. Ideal candidate has an interest in the arts, social justice organizing, and grassroots fundraising. This is an opportunity for hands-on experience in arts administration, arts advocacy, and LGBTQ+ activism.
Responsibilities include:
- Updating grant calendar
- Assisting with grant research
- Handwriting thank you notes to donors
- Data entry
- Additional duties as assigned
Useful skills (willing to teach/coach you if you don't possess these skills):
- Grant writing
- Time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
- Knowledge of current issues in the LGBTQ+ community
