What鈥檚 happening at your internship?

At my internship at Adobe, I am working with a commenting team at the Creative Cloud. My project specifically is about making it possible for a user to annotate and comment on specific parts of a video as opposed to static images and documents that my team has been working on. It is a very exciting opportunity to work on something that might be released one day.

Why did you apply for this internship?

Besides the fact that Adobe is one of the best places to work at according to Fortune, the reason why I wanted to work for them is their products. As a long time user of Adobe products, I found it very exciting to see the behind the scenes of their programming world. I wanted to be a part of a fast-paced environment and see how Adobe produces their amazing technology. Being there for a month, I know that I made the right choice. The people I am working with are so incredibly smart and welcoming, I feel very fortunate to be in an environment like this.

Can you talk about the skills you are learning and why they are important to you?

As a junior Computer Science major with very little experience in the industry, I have been learning a lot. I learned about different languages, libraries, and tools like React js, Redux, Lerna, and many more. I had a chance to submerge myself in a huge code base and learn how to navigate through it. Moreover, I learned about the workflow in the industry and what it feels like working as a full-time Software Engineer. All these skills are essential in my future career. Learning about all the new web technologies will open my horizons when it comes to my future job search. I will be more qualified for certain roles and having the industry experience will make the transition to a full-time role smoother.

What has been your favorite part of this internship?

My favorite part about the internship has been the very supportive culture in my team and throughout Adobe. Everybody was very patient and willing to help at any moment. Moreover, Adobe made sure that even during a global pandemic all the interns could get the most out of this experience. I was sent a chocolate making kit, pottery kit, and gifts including a backpack, jacket and many more. We were also given a chance to participate in yoga and meditation lessons as well as different games events where I was able to meet my fellow interns.
